About Riverbend
Since 1974, Riverbend Environmental Education Center has been teaching environmental principles to children in Southeastern Pennsylvania through a direct connection with nature, inspiring respect for our natural world and action as aware, responsible and caring citizens. Each year we give 14,000 children and families across the region an opportunity to experience the wonder and beauty of nature.
Riverbend is a special place of shady walks and rustling leaves, where little toes can feel the cool water of our stream, where the chorus of frogs can be heard in our ponds, and where children can explore our 30 acres of meadows and woodlands searching for a wide assortment of birds, bugs, and other critters. From the neighbors who walk our trails, to the families who attend our educational programs and events, and the many groups of schoolchildren on field trips, Riverbend is a local treasure to be cherished and preserved.
We rely on volunteers from our community in order to fulfill our mission: Growing Greener Children. Each year, we have over 400 volunteers donate their time to help us offer a wide variety of programs for children and families, and manage the stewardship of our 30-acre property. With a small staff and a tight budget, your generosity by volunteering your time and talent helps us keep Riverbend financially sustainable in a difficult economy. Working together, we can make a difference by helping the next generation of kids develop a love of nature and become good stewards of the earth.
