The meeting was called by Property Week to discuss the recent white paper, Worker of the Future and the Evolving use of Technology in the Property Industry. The paper was launched in September 2012 and was produced by Property Week in association with Qube Global Software – download a copy of the paper here. Software is now easier to use – is this your experience?

You may have seen our latest white paper on the evolving use of Technology in the Property Industry. The paper researched and written in conjunction with Property Week has proven to a be very popular download from our site over the last couple of weeks. There are a couple of real stand-out stats including almost 85% of respondents thinking that software is becoming easier to use.

This is not such a surprise to us going on the trends from over the last few years in the way that business applications have been developed, indeed we have been working hard to make sure our applications are even easier to use through our development efforts. (more…)

Rising postage costs causing problems? We have some solutions for you.

As many of you will know postage costs are on the rise – whether this is in the UK with the recent increase of the cost of a stamp to 60 pence, or perhaps due to cost and inflationary pressures brought onto other private suppliers and in turn you. This does not make communicating with customers nowadays any easier.    Many of our customers have been dispatching hundreds of  thousands of demands, reminders and correspondence via postal services – mostly because that is the way they have always done it! Some of them because of what is governed in the agreement or the lease.
Changes have prompted customers to analyse how they are sending communications to customers and to start looking at adopting the extensive emailing and SMS functionality that our systems offer. Don’t forget the savings that can also be made in respect not having to print, collate and stuff envelopes.
In addition another saving that can be enabled (both on time utilised by staff and in the hard postage cost) is by giving customers the option to self-serve using a portal. Using a portal to allow your customers to pay rent and service charges and find out information on their property in their own time, will cut down on the ad-hoc paper work that may be delivered by traditional methods.
Anecdotally one of our clients was worried about how their customers would react to using a portal – but on surveying them a massive 85% of them wanted this service.  On implementing our tenant portal that links seamlessly with their property management system they have been delighted with the results and no doubt the reduced costs.

Customer Events 2012

I just wanted to communicate some details of upcoming events for customers.
We are just about to deliver our annual Qube Customer Roadshows.  These events have become a must for keeping in touch with the latest developments, getting better value out of your investment in the software and for networking with like-minded users.   The events are held in City Centre locations across the UK.  In Ireland and Northern Ireland these events form the basis of user group meetings in Dublin and Belfast.   While we always travel to see our customers on regular account management visits, customers seem to get an extra benefit from these group events and they are always well received – I put a lot of this down to down to the extra networking that takes place and the buzz that surrounds this. In addition, this year at these events we are holding some optional training sessions that might appeal.  If you can’t make it to these please also check out our new online training sessions which are being really well received. The concept of these bite sized webinars actually came from last year’s Customer Roadshows when many customers fed back that they wanted training delivered this way.
Customer Conference 2012 – this is the premier event in the Qube customer event calendar.  The event which usually takes place in autumn regularly attracts over 300 customers. This year we are utilising the superb conference facilities at the Oval Cricket Ground (http://www.kiaoval.com/commercial/conferences-events/) on the 17 October. Property Awards 2012

Last week we sponsored an award at the Property Week Property Awards.  The Professional Agency of the Year award and congratulations to the winners GVA.  The Awards are one of the biggest events in the UK property calendar and certainly the biggest awards ceremony.
Good exposure yes – but like some of the exhibitions we attend it is sometimes hard to calculate if we get a great return on these events.   However, there are a couple of really positive things to come out of these events that we can see immediately.  Firstly, we get to bring along some clients (plus meet lots of others) so a great networking opportunity and always good fun – especially when you have a good compere like Jonathan Ross or Michael McIntyre.  I am personally sorry I missed this year’s event as I have been told there was a great atmosphere.
We have been doing quite a few of these types of events over the last couple of years, including the News on the Block Property Management Awards and the upcoming RESI Awards (a spin off of the hugely successful specialist residential event that takes place in Autumn every year).  One more hidden value we get is that we see that our customers are also having success with many of them either winning or nominated in all categories (Investors, Agents and Occupiers).  So while not tangible benefit it builds on our is confidence that we are aligned with successful organisations and we believe in some way we are contributing to their good results through the software they use.   So as we look forward to the next awards ceremony – the aforementioned RESI awards on the 15th May – Good luck to our customers!

A Year of Challenges!

Our Roadshows have started

Many of you will be thinking of how you take your organisations forward with new technology solutions and this is possibly why you have visited this blog. This time of year seems to be popular time for companies to think about these challenges. For the last 6 years we have been taking the opportunity to visit prospective customers and customers around this time of year at regional events to bring our solutions to their ‘doorstep’. Each of these events takes place at well connected city centre hotel conference facilities.
