Property Awards 2012

April 25th, 2012
Last week we sponsored an award at the Property Week Property Awards.  The Professional Agency of the Year award and congratulations to the winners GVA.  The Awards are one of the biggest events in the UK property calendar and certainly the biggest awards ceremony.
Good exposure yes – but like some of the exhibitions we attend it is sometimes hard to calculate if we get a great return on these events.   However, there are a couple of really positive things to come out of these events that we can see immediately.  Firstly, we get to bring along some clients (plus meet lots of others) so a great networking opportunity and always good fun – especially when you have a good compere like Jonathan Ross or Michael McIntyre.  I am personally sorry I missed this year’s event as I have been told there was a great atmosphere.
We have been doing quite a few of these types of events over the last couple of years, including the News on the Block Property Management Awards and the upcoming RESI Awards (a spin off of the hugely successful specialist residential event that takes place in Autumn every year).  One more hidden value we get is that we see that our customers are also having success with many of them either winning or nominated in all categories (Investors, Agents and Occupiers).  So while not tangible benefit it builds on our is confidence that we are aligned with successful organisations and we believe in some way we are contributing to their good results through the software they use.   So as we look forward to the next awards ceremony – the aforementioned RESI awards on the 15th May – Good luck to our customers!

Success Stories

March 7th, 2012
Last year I was looking at our customer base and the great names we have in the list.  Around the same time I was constantly being bombarded from the account management team with all the good news stories from around the customer base and also seeing the amount of new customers coming to us on recommendation.  So we have been working hard to document some of these stories by completing case studies on our Qube Customers, how they have been using the software effectively and the derived benefits.  There are a few links below to download the latest stories.  Our customers can also use these to show tenants, stakeholders and internal customers how they are using the latest technology and software effectively.

CAFM Manager – nominated as 1 of top 5 careers in FM

February 29th, 2012

We have recently come across an interesting article on a software advice blog on careers in FM.

http://blog.softwareadvice.com/articles/cafm/top-5-careers-in-facility-management-1021612/

Noticeably a CAFM Manager is chosen as one of the top 5 careers in FM, the article explains how in demand this role is becoming as “more and more, facilities are relying on state-of-the-art automation systems and technologies” and goes on to state having someone in this role is a “huge asset “.

As many Planet users are CAFM Managers we all know the importance of FM software and are pleased this has been highlighted in this article and shows appreciation for all the many CAFM managers out there!  Indeed the other careers in the post are also Planet and CAFM users – so it is another good recognition of the FM profession in general.

A Year of Challenges!

February 3rd, 2012

As well as the normal challenges business life throws at us, this year a number of our staff will be undertaking a few personal challenges of their own and for the sake of their chosen charities.

Claire Hodgson, our Horizon Marketing Manager is travelling to China to trek the Great Wall of China in September to raise money for Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust http://www.jostrust.org.uk/

Barry Mair from our Qube Professional Services team is going to complete the International Canoe Race from Devizes in Wiltshire to Westminster Bridge in London. A total of 125 miles.  Barry is paddling with a partner in the 4-day endeavour race taking part in the open boat, veteran mixed category and is doing this both from the perspective of a personal challenge and also to help raise money for the Help for Heroes charity. http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/

We have staff running in the London Marathon and we might also hear soon if our team will again attempt the Vertical Rush race again this year. Please see the news story from last year. http://www.qubeglobal.com/news/nid-00160/qube-global-team-completes-race-in-a-rush/

This is just a good luck message and to say that these people are inspirational.  So look out for more news of these challenges on our news channel and on this blog.

A Big Thank You to our Customers and Supporters

December 1st, 2011

We have recently seen some great posts on LinkedIn. In response to people asking for recommendations on suppliers of Property Management Software our customers have repeatedly been mentioning us and in very positive terms. Please see this example from the Institute of Residential Property Managers LinkedIn Group

Now this does make us feel very special – and the threads have been passed around the company. ‘Inspirational’ is how one employee put it.

These are things we often forget – most of our new business comes on recommendation, we constantly receive really high scores in customer feedback and we have a bank of customer case studies. So as we don’t often get a chance to thank customers publically for this support here is a big thank you for these recommendations and comments.

Compliance

July 25th, 2011

One simple word, but really important to us, because we come across it all the time!

Customers are continually striving for that competitive edge to gain cost savings or increased returns and we feel that we do a pretty good job of helping our customers with this. However, in nearly every new engagement with a prospective customer we get questions on compliance. Whether this be on tax, legal or industry body guidance, with approaching 900 customers we will have come across these questions before – so with us you can take these things as read.

So you are probably asking why am I bringing this up? Over the last two months Qube Global Software staff have been attending the RICS Property Management Roadshows. The events cover the implications of the new RICS Service Charge Code of Practice (2011). It was clear from the pre-seminar documentation and at the first session that Qube Global Software’s solutions would easily adapt to enable customers to handle the requirements set out in the upcoming code. In fact, this capability has been in place for some time. However, from what I understand not every supplier loves compliance as much as us. So if you are reading this and an auditor or customer has recently questioned your compliance, we can help.

Qube Global Software customers out-perform their rivals – again.

July 22nd, 2011

Each year Property Data publishes a directory of UK property investors. As always, we’re very keen to see this – partly to check on the robust health of our customers, but also to see if we can pick out any trends amongst the performance figures.

In previous years, the directory was limited to ‘net worth’ and so we looked at relative growth (or otherwise, during the recession) of companies that have a solution from Qube Global Software against those that don’t. When the markets were on the way up, our customers grew faster than their competitors and during the recession the negative growth was less severe for users of our software.

For the 2011 Directory, Property Data has included profit figures. Growth may be a fairly accurate way to determine the success of a company, but there is nothing to compare to profits (just ask the shareholders), so this year we focussed most of our analysis on that.

The 2011 Directory threw out a few facts:

• Out of the Top 100 property companies by net worth, 35 use solutions from Qube Global Software.
• Out of the Top 30 property companies by net worth, 17 use solutions from Qube Global Software.

• The total gross profit from companies within the Top 100 was £3,869m.
• The total gross profit from companies within the Top 100 that have a solution from Qube Global Software was £3,207m.

So Qube Global Software ‘represents’ 35% of the Top 100’s companies and 83% of its profits.

Looking at profit growth over that last twelve months*:

• Companies without a solution from Qube Global Software saw an average increase in profits of 38% over the last twelve months.

• Companies that have a solution from Qube Global Software saw an average increase in profits of 639% over the last twelve months.

Whilst I would be an optimist of the highest degree to claim that Qube Global Software is solely responsible for performance like that, I am certainly no believer in luck or coincidence – certainly not to that scale.

I am quite prepared to assert that companies using Qube Global Software’s range of solutions are outperforming, and quite significantly so, those that don’t.

Which camp would you rather be in?

Stuart Lee
Qube Global Software

* The twelve month period is different for each company, depending upon the dates that they posted their results. This can represent different time periods for different organisations, but is the last available 12 months for each organisation.

Our Roadshows have started

May 27th, 2011

Many of you will be thinking of how you take your organisations forward with new technology solutions and this is possibly why you have visited this blog. This time of year seems to be popular time for companies to think about these challenges. For the last 6 years we have been taking the opportunity to visit prospective customers and customers around this time of year at regional events to bring our solutions to their ‘doorstep’. Each of these events takes place at well connected city centre hotel conference facilities. These take the form of seminars to prospective customers (http://www.qubeglobal.co.uk/fmseminar/ http://www.qubeglobal.co.uk/propertyseminars/) or as a series of customer roadshows (http://www.qubeglobal.co.uk/planetroadshows/ http://www.qubeglobal.co.uk/roadshows/). These sessions are designed to show the customer base of some of the features and benefits of the latest software release. The events are always really popular with overflow events often being delivered due to venue capacity being exceeded.

One of the interesting dates in this series is the 23rd of June when our Planet team will celebrate World FM Day with their customers at our City of London office. Qube Global Software has been involved with World FM day for the last 2 years and is a proud sponsor of the organisers, Global FM. Global FM is a an organisation committed to the development of the FM profession and on the day we will be delivering sessions that will help increase attendees knowledge of technology solutions in the FM sector.

Another point to note about this series is that the Qube team are highlighting some landmark numbers in their customer base growth, with 500 organisations using the product across the UK and Ireland. This adds to the impressive numbers also using the Planet and Horizon solutions. This is one of the themes of their roadshow series and some of the content will highlight just why Qube has become such a cornerstone of the Property Management industry.

If you are a customer or are just interested in hearing how our solutions can benefit your organisation please feel free to visit us at the events in May and June. Please register in advance on the links above.

Professional Conferences for Surveyors 2011

April 8th, 2011

Last year we were involved as sponsors of the Professional Conferences series of events. The events provide Chartered Surveyors a route to gaining more knowledge on the industry and catching up with the latest trends in the market. All of this contributing to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours.

We felt that as we have such strong links with the profession through Surveyors using our software solutions we should be involved as sponsors. We are delighted to be involved this year again, with the new series starting in Manchester next week and this year we are delivering some different content in our sponsors address.

John Cuppello our CEO will be tackling the subject of obvious problems in businesses, and how we all seem to avoid these and work around them. John will highlight that our solutions are here to help tackle these directly. For those that have seen John’s presentation visit this link to see the video referred to.

The Role of Cloud Computing in Commercial Property – RICS White Paper

March 29th, 2011

Many in the industry will have seen the RICS White Papers on Property in the Economy published over the last two years. http://www.rics.org/propertyintheeconomy

These are great set of resources for experienced professionals or those starting out and wanting to find out more about key issues in the Property Industry.

I have included a link to one of the most recent papers below on Cloud Computing that has some input from our CEO John Cuppello.  Obviously this is core to our solutions and we feel we have a great story to tell here – with our development teams having worked hard delivering Cloud based solutions over the last couple of years. These Cloud based solutions are proving popular with the Customer base.  In fact we really feel that we have strong product offerings across all of our delivery methods. Neil Harrison’s post from 1 February 2011 talks more about ‘The Cloud’ and is great food for thought.

The Role of Cloud Computing in Commercial Property
February 2011 – What is cloud computing and why is it relevant to real estate?.  This paper will examine these questions and will consider how it may affect the amount of space a company uses, the provision of data centres and an increase in more flexible and efficient working practices.
